Lake Union Seaplane Traffic Notice

Paddleboarders on Lake Union should be aware of increased seaplane activity this month.

Kenmore Air has added extra flights for the holiday season. Seaplanes typically land and take off from the center of the lake, but always maintain awareness of aircraft approaching from the north.

Best practice: stay within 100 feet of the shoreline and keep your head on a swivel. Seaplanes create minimal wake but the noise can be surprising.

The western shore near Gas Works Park offers great views of the takeoffs while keeping you safely out of the flight path.

Paddle safe out there!
